GARDENING

by Daniel from Zambia Gardening is the practice of cultivating crops or rather plants for various purposes. Nevertheless, this activity is both ways depending on which level it is being practiced. The practice is both simple and complicated. The part which makes this practice complicated is when gardening is practiced at a large scale as a lot of resources and a vast piece of land are required. On the other hand, this activity is manageable in that

Life on the Himmelsfels – feels like a volunteersspiri

by Daniel from Zambia Life as a volunteer is so fascinating because it is always a chance or an opportunity to learn many new things related to life as a whole, depending on the situation. This article discusses my experience at Himmelsfels where we camped for 4 days from June 9-12, 2022. As a human being, not just as a volunteer, it is important to approach any situation with an open mind and optimism because everything happens for a reason. So when a situation or event occurs, are there questions to ask yourself and ask yourself, „What do I learn from this?“ Look at the positive and negative aspects, let both flow in and see what it has in store for your life and in the future.

My 2 month anniversary here in Germany

by Marc from Argentinia A few days ago was my 2 month anniversary here in Germany. My blog today is going to tell you a bit about my days and what I do at ESG, the Evangelische Studierendengemeinde in Dortmund. Little by little I feel that the Volunteer house is becoming my home, my comfort zone. Those of you who follow me on my social networks will see that every weekend I go to a different city in Germany, I really enjoy traveling by train, I also like to share those moments with the other volunteers of my organization, because I can speak Spanish (haha) and it’s really nice to share

One year seems too short

by Daniel from Zambia One year seems too short for me; I state so because of the fascinating and thrilling environment around here of course not forgetting the beautiful family, community and associates I am surrounded with here in Dortmund which is my new home. A year of life worth living

by Espérance from DR Congo After waiting for so long, more than a year before coming to Germany, I was very happy and excited to start my volunteering service and of course I had many expectations. I was preparing myself to meet new people from everywhere, to share experiences with them, have good time together, learn new things about different cultures, learn a

Leaving Dortmund

by Louis from Indonesia It makes me always sad when talking about leaving. I am not sad of leaving the place because I know that the place will always there and it is possible to come back. I am more sad of leaving the people that I am not sure if I still can meet them or not. In mid-February, Volunteershouse had a new member, Marco from Argentina. Marco’s arrival added joy at the Volunteershouse. We are happy to show him part of NRW and Dortmund. It didn’t take us long to get close to Marco, it’s just so sad we didn’t have much time with him. But we always tried to make a good time when we are together. At the Volunteershouse everything went well, it’s just that I feel that everyone is
