New Year’s Eve in Hamburg

by Derio from Indonesia I have to tell you about my New Year’s Eve in Hamburg! I went with my Indonesian volunteer friends and it was just amazing. We took the train, which took about five hours, but it was totally worth it. To make the trip even more beautiful, we

Do it, you will never regret it!

by Jason-Lee from Namibia As a South-North volunteer, I work for the Evangelische Jungend Dortmund and Studio 41. I am passionate about working with young people. It makes me feel good to know that I might be leaving a footprint in the lives of young people – my year of volunteering in Germany so far has been blessed beyond my imagination. One day, me and my colleague Simon were busy baking waffles for all the people at our workplace (the Evangelical Church District of Dortmund) and handing out waffles and spontaneously we were both approached to model for a cover for a newspaper called “MENSCH”. I remember Simon saying: Jason is a model. I was so shy, not knowing that this would become a reality.

3rd Anniversary of Studio 41

by Nisha from Sri Lanka Good day dear all, I thought of writing a few words about our well known – Studio41. My first time to go to the Studio was when I was a volunteer. I remember I used to go there with my other volunteer friends to take part in programmes and once to find dresses for the Carnival day.

Dortmund is special, I like it here

by Sam from Palestine My first month in Germany was very good: I work in a Kindergarten and in a youth center, everyone is kind which makes the work atmosphere very good. I have visited some other cities than Dortmund but Dortmund is special, I like it here. I met new people, learned new ways of dealing with stuff, I am blessed with everything that is happening in here.

„Chaos, culture and hangover – my wild UEM-seminar adventure!“

by Derio from Indonesia Attending the second seminar for volunteers from the United Evangelical Mission (VEM ) in Hattingen was an adventure from start to finish. Picture This: BBQ, workshop, FOOD! A bunch of enthusiastic volunteers, all in a peacefull town that felt like the perfect blend of a retreat and community center. I was excited but had no Idea what the next few days had in store for me.

CSD Pride

by Jason-Lee from Namibia On Sunday the 17.09.2024 we had a pride parade. It all started with a beautiful Sunday service at St Petri Church. The church was decorated with the beautiful rainbow colors of the pride flag. The piano was played by Nicolas, and Marlene sang touching songs that filed our hearts with so much warmth and love, again as we still fight the battle of freedom. A few people came for the service, and it was blessed by the word of God from our pastors Leonie and Martin.
