We had a lot of fun, smiles and laughter when we celebrated a weltwärts festival in Göttingen from May 31 to June 4, 2023. Our story began with joy and love on May 31, when all of us who are participating in the weltwärts program this year through the United Evangelical Mission went to Göttingen to celebrate weltwärts‘ 15th anniversary. For your information, we, the South-North volunteers of the United Evangelical Mission, all live widely scattered in Germany and a festival or seminar is a good opportunity for us to meet.

Zu eurer Information, wir, die Süd-Nord-Freiwilligen der Vereinten Evangelischen Mission, leben alle weit verstreut in Deutschland und ein Festival oder ein Seminar ist für uns eine gute Gelegenheit, uns zu treffen.

Es gab einige schöne Begegnungen, Und es gab auch einige bittere Erfahrungen. Es gab Zeiten mit stillen Tränen, Und es gab Zeiten, da lachte ich mir das Herz aus dem Leib! Es gab späte Nächte, Es gab frühe Morgenstunden. Es gab Zeiten, in denen ich mich nach Hause sehnte, Zum Glück habe ich Menschen, die mich wie eine Familie behandeln. Daher, Inmitten der Tage der Krankheit, die stagniert, Stand ich aufrecht und mit viel Kraft da. Vorlieben und Abneigungen; Do's und Don'ts, Unterschiede und doch Gemeinsamkeiten, Konflikte und doch Frieden! Wie soll ich das definieren? Meine Heimat in Deutschland? Das ist ein eindeutiges JA!

There were several sweet gatherings, And, there were some bitter experiences too. There were times of silent tears, And there were times, I laughed my heart out! There were late nights, There were early mornings. There were times of longing for home, Thankfully I have people who treat me as family. Hence, Amid the days of sickness that stagnates, Stood tall with much power to face. Likes and dislikes; Do’s and Don’ts, Differences howbeit similarities, Conflicts yet peace! How should I define this? My home in Deutschland? It’s a doubtless YES!
by Isaac from Rwanda Two months I am already as a South-North volunteer in the Youth Center Lütgendortmund. Two months I am already in this beautiful country. I have gained a lot of experiences. I have found friends and relatives here. I am happy to be here and I am working. We have different offers and programs for young people and children. They help me to progress with the German language. I had the opportunity to go to the Kirchentag in Nuremberg and study the Bible again. Once again I am very surprised how hungry Christians are for the Word of God, and it is a great joy to be here. I thank those who help us and those who live with us, and I pray that they will continue to care for us.

Ich habe viele Erfahrungen gesammelt. Ich habe hier Freund*innen und Verwandte gefunden. Ich bin glücklich, hier zu sein Ich arbeite. Wir haben verschiedene Angebote und Programme für Jugendliche und Kinder. Sie helfen mir, mit der deutschen Sprache voran zu kommen. Ich hatte die Gelegenheit, zum Kirchentag nach Nürnberg zu fahren und noch einmal die Bibel zu studieren.
von Roselva aus Indonesien Hallo. Mein Name ist Roselva Manalu, aber alle hier nennen mich Selva. Ich musste zwei Monate warten, bevor ich endlich nach Deutschland fliegen konnte. Das macht mich nervös, dennoch fülle ich meine Tage in Indonesien mit spannenden Aktivitäten. Zuvor war ich im letzten Semester als Studentin an einer Universität in Indonesien. Um meine Tage auszufüllen, habe ich eine Forschungsarbeit angefertigt, die eine Voraussetzung für meinen Abschluss war. Am 30. Mai habe ich meinen Abschluss gemacht und meinen S.Pd. erhalten, obwohl ich noch nicht offiziell graduiert bin. Meiner Meinung nach ist die Verzögerung meiner Abreise kein Unglück, sondern ein Weg von Gott, damit ich mein Studium zuerst beenden konnte. Aus meiner Sicht ist eines klar: Gottes Pläne sind immer perfekt. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, nach Deutschland zu reisen und meine

It makes me nervous, yet I fill my days in Indonesia with fascinating activities. Previously, I was a final semester student as a student at a university in Indonesia. And to fill my days, I made a research that became a requirement for my graduation. I graduated on May 30th and got my S.Pd. although not yet officially because I haven't graduated yet. In my opinion, the delay in my departure schedule is not a misfortune but a way from God so that I can finish my studies first. I can’t say that everything was easy while I was in Germany and even less that everything was difficult, but I will say that there were wonderful moments and a little worry about the language (German) because here in Germany the lack of knowledge of the German language really hinders many things like: Communication, work, relationships, travel, shopping, etc. But I had made an effort to master the language a little bit and also thanks to the Ecumenism Unit, a private teacher was found to teach me the language.
