by Louis from Indonesia

Louis was supposed to be volunteering with us in the church district of Dortmund since April 2020 and would be part of the team in the Volunteershouse. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Louis has not yet been able to enter Germany – we now hope that Louis will be able to start her voluntary service with us in January 2021. Here Louis writes about how she is dealing with the long wait and what she is doing in the meantime:

Hallo. My name is Louis from Indonesia. I am 22 years old. My hobbies are painting, reading books, working out and hiking. Covid-19 cases grow very rapidly. It gives a lot of impacts in so many areas include my flight to Germany. At first, I a little bit upset, because I have to wait again. And then, I stopped and looked around. I realize that my problem was not that big compared to people who lose their job because of this new pandemic. I assure myself that everything will be alright and God’s plan for my life is far better than anything I can imagine.

Everything was so boring when I did my first month of quarantine, because I didn’t know what to do besides eating and cleaning house. I gained weight. And then I was thinking I have to be productive. I learn how to cook and make new recipe each day, I learn how to play guitar. I have a lot of time for my family and myself. I read books, I workout a lot, and I start painting again after a while. Some of my paintings I sell online. There is always something to be grateful for.
I enjoy my quarantine life now. It’s so much easier. Now I enjoy each day of my life, whatever happens that’s all God’s plan, everything will be alright. Just do our best and let it flow because God is good all the time
