It was a seminar  us volunteers could visit some historic sites and some German developmental projects.

TRIP TO EMDEN IN EAST FRISA. This was a visitation of two major important historical sites, the EMDEN BUNKER, this was a huge shelter for people during the world war 2 which could accommodate over 300 people, now operating as a historic museum. The exhibition provides background information that make it possible to apprehend the history of the national socialism, the war 2 and the people of this area. We contributed our appreciation by painting a room in the museum. In addition we visited the Emden-Barenburg (former Bunker) now operating as intercultural center. It was very impressive to see how some of the dark marks of the dark times of Germany are bringing light now.

TRIP TO ENGERHAFE. This was a concentration camp specifically for prisoners/forced laborers. Former ENGERHAFE camp is now also a museum and also a host to the grave yard of the forced laborers who lost their lives during the war 2 in the year 1944. May their souls find eternal peace.

TRIP TO DETMOLD LIPPE. SOLAWI (agriculture in solidarity) . It was so precious to visit this farming project and to learn how helpful it is to its community, for it is a co-operative having activities of growing food/vegetables without using harmful chemicals.

It was a great opportunity to visit the phoenix electric company, which surely showed us how a human must plan how to produce power using the renewable resources without harming/destroying the environment. In addition, the visit of St. Nicolas church in Lemgo , learning from its history of reformation that it was the first reformed church in the history of Lemgo city.

TRIP TO UELZEN. The Woltersburger Mühle plays an important roll to it’s community living by an example. This organization provides jobs to the unemployed members of the community regardless of their history and nationality which promotes unity and less criminality. „Uelzen essbare Stadt„: The Woltersburger Mühle people take opportunity to plant fruits and vegetables in the city where it is normally not clean and well kept. Everybody is welcome to harvest. I find it important because it promotes cleanliness of the environment and hard working world. (When you want to help and succeed in life, don’t always think about money, but look at what you have do because money will never be enough) Getting the words of encouragement from the director of Woltersburger Mühle.

It was very interesting for us after a two weeks journey meeting our German friends (former German volunteers in Zambia).

All thanks goes to the amazing volunteer organizations.
