by Rachel Lee from Hong Kong,

Sitting on the plane way back to Hongkong, pieces of memories pop up like bubbles in my mind.  I thought of the pillow and mattress that I used to sleep on a year ago in hong kong and the face of Matthias, my chief in ESG and the empty room at home and the laughters and tears shared with other UEM volunteers and the moment when I talked to friends in Hong Kong using Skype. Hong Kong, Germany, Hong Kong, Germany, Hong Kong. People and things are mixing and popping in my mind.

And all of a sudden, everything ends with a hurry of booking a flight and the news of the virus. Only the no-smoking sign is still lighted up in the aircraft cabin. Memories fly like a marquee. I realised that the flight is not just as simple as escaping from the epidemic. This is an end. The bright sunny day sitting in the garden and  in front of the window will pass. This flight is a 12 hours long graduation ceremony. Even though the graduation ceremony happens hastily, the meaning remains the same. Writing dairy day by day has come to an end. I don’t have to consider my lunch and dinner menu and the shopping list for supermarket. Which food will go bad easily and which are the seasonal fruits. Carrying all the experiences and coming back to Hong Kong is another challenge. I am looking for another way of life and a different Rachel Lee.

Thanks everyone I met for helping me to become who I am now. A more mature, cheerful and thoughtful person. I am sure we will meet each other soon.
