We took part in a seminar in Braunschweig from 29 February to 2 March. The seminar was about political education.
At first, my friends and I thought that the seminar would be very boring, because during the seminar we would learn a lot about the Bundesrat, the Federal Government, the Bundestag and also the political system in Germany, the election process, the difference between the Federal Chancellor and the Federal President. Sounds very difficult and exhausting, doesn’t it?
But it wasn’t. We had a lot of fun.
We had a teacher called Alicia and she was very good at breaking the ice and also teaching the material. She used methods that we liked and created an interesting atmosphere in the midst of difficult and complex topics.
We practised a lot, did group work and played games.

We were often divided into groups for discussion and each group had a different topic. This allowed us to focus on our group’s topic and give a good presentation. And she never said that we delivered the material incorrectly, which made us active and confident.
I like her method because it allowed us to learn and teach each other. And at the end of each session she gave a summary of the day’s topic.
And she didn’t want to dictate anything to us, we learnt together.

There was something special on 1 March.
On Tuesday, 1 March, we had an assignment in the city of Braunschweig to observe the social and political conditions in the city. And the challenge was that we had to take photos of special or conspicuous social features without being caught.
For example, there are lots of young people who are together but just playing with their mobile phones. Services for the elderly in the bank, services for people with disabilities

huaaa, like paparazzi hahaha and it was very funny and also nerve-wracking to play a spy.

And in case you’re wondering about the seminar building: It’s very cool and cosy.
There are almost all the facilities like music room, games hall, sports field and kitchen.
The comfort they gave us made many of us not want to go home at all, hehehe, just kidding.
