What do young people do when they come to church?

Young people will bring new spirit and atmosphere in the development of the church. Passion, creativity, critical thinking and more energy become weapons for the young generation. The Jugendgottesdienst organized by Lydia Youth arose from an anxiety that they experienced themselves, namely that there were not much young people in Germany who came to church. Then with their creativity they make a service with a different concept, namely by incorporating elements of modern music and gospel pop songs, and combining sermons with drama and other elements of creativity (making bracelets) and then closing the service with eating Pizza together. Because everyone loves Pizza!

„Unstoppable“ Jugendgottesdienst is my first experience at youth services in Germany, I am very happy to be able to attend and be directly involved in the event. The service is located in Lutherkirche (Flurstrasse 41, 44145 Dortmund) at 6pm. Benny (my mentor), who first invited me to come and attend the preparatory meeting for the event. From there I was trusted to play drama and become a photographer. I was very nervous when I had to move forward and play drama, with simple German language skills. Remaining fortunate friends there helped a lot and made me more confident.

It was raining that day, but it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants who came to the event. I made a summary of the event in the form of the video above, very exciting and fun!

The next Jugendgottesdienst will be held on September 14, 2019. If you are interested, don’t forget to come! (location and time will be telling later)
