by Carol from India,
August is almost going to end and I can’t believe that it is already 10 months since I am here in Germany. Sometimes I still can’t believe it that I made it fine and perfect. The lessons which I learned from the people around me is priceless. I know so much more now.
While filling the form for this volunteering year, I was asked so many different questions but one of them was,
- would I implement lessons and things which I learned from Germany in my life when I return back to India?
At that time, I didn’t know what exactly would I like to implement in future but now I know the answer to this question. There are so many habits, routines, lessons which I have learned during this 10 months which I want to continue and apply on myself, in honour to keep the memories and lessons of Germany alive inside of me, which I have made and learned respectively from the people around me in Germany.
There were some days when I was on the top of the world and there were other days when I felt really low and I missed home more than anything but I realised one thing that the more I tried to blend in with the people and the country, the better and easier it became for me.
Honestly, time flies really soon, when I deeply contemplate about myself, I see myself entering volunteerhouse with Carolin, as if it was just yesterday when I landed in Germany and here I am now 10 months after my arrival, still wondering whether I am really in Germany for 10 months now or did I just land here yesterday?
I also realised my strengths and my weaknesses during this process. Whenever I felt weak, I heard a song called as “Sang tere”, which is a Hindi worship song, which was written and sung by my neighbour. From 1st of November until now, this song has given me so much strength to survive. The lyrics of this song is really beautiful and I would like to share it with you all, please feel free to hear this song and do let us know if you like it?

The Hindi lyric is :-
Peeche nahi mudunga
Haar nahi maanunga
Badta rahunga
Sang tere
Meri ore se ladega
Kabhi haath na chodega
Darr hata ke bal diya
Jeet tune mujhe diya
The translation in English :-
I Won’t turn back
I Will not give up
I Will keep growing with you
You Fight on my behalf
You Will never leave me
You have removed my fears and you gave me strength,
You gave me victory
