At 30 November 2019, we have been invited to join the future lab in Dortmund. The future lab was part of the Climate Action Day campaign to raise awareness of Climate change among young people.

The Future Lap took part in the Union Gewerbehof in Dortmund, a creative common space in Dortmund. Once, it was the centre of beer brewerys, today many groups and initiatives have rented offices, cafes and gardens. Around 40 people came together on that day, and different workshops have been offered for us. There have been two workshop sessions, one before lunch break and one after lunch break. For the first session, I have decided to take part in a workshop organized by Pastor Christina Biere (MÖWe) und Simon Grobe (VEM): “Hot line for a cool planet. How does climate action looks like in South Africa and Indonesia?” The workshop was a skype talk with two climate experts: one was Sophia Anggraita (from Indonesia) und one was Lydia Mogano (Brot für die Welt South Africa). In this workshop we learned about their Climate Action initiatives and we also learned about the extreme conditions and consequences taking place in respective countries due to climate change.

In the afternoon, I participated in a DIY workshop. DIY means Do it yourself. In this workshop we learned how to make our own toothpaste and deo cream / deo paste and how to live plastic free lifestyle. It was the first time, I did something like that, but hopefully not the last time.

In the evening, we prepared our supper together with food rescued by @slowfood activists. They have rescued food, especially vegetables, from a supermarket, who wanted to throw the vegetables away because they did not “look nice” any longer. The food was really delicious.

I would like to share a quote with all of you that inspires me a lot: “Believe in yourself, anything is possible no matter who you are, or where you come from. Find your path and stay on it, if you want something badly enough, nothing can stop you.”
