Rindola was a city, where people like you and I, in the year 2018 lived, the only difference to people in a city like Dortmund was that they had no smart phones, no internet, no media of any kind. Katara was a small girl who lived in Rindola, Katara was asleep early that morning, soon the bright morning sun shined across her room, in a distant she heard a rooster cock-a-doodle-doooo! She rose to the craw of the rooster. As she went out of her room, she saw her parents set the table for breakfast, she joined them, along with the bread, jam and the hot coffee on the table there were joyous conversations, they laughed, talked, heard and said their stories to their loved ones.
‘’Ah! A letter has arrived’’ said Katara’s mother, Katara ran out of her house to fetch the letter from the pigeon, there were different varieties of birds outside the house every day and katara loved to look at each one of them, how beautiful and unique they all were. ‘’come in you are late for school’’ yelled katara’s father.
Katara got ready, she usually took the public transport to school, she loved meeting new people every day, enjoyed the little talks and stories, after school she came back home took her bicycle rode along with her friends in the neighborhood and played till her hearts content, she would later come home read books, play, sing and cook with her parents.
Sounds like a fairy tale isn’t it? Exactly how our lives would be without Internet / smartphones? Have we ever asked ourselves when was the last time we had a joyful conversation at a lunch table? the last time we woke up without an alarm? Oh! The pity in the public transports where hundreds of people starring into the tiny little devices choosing to ignore the human kind. What happened to all the birds in the cities, dead because of the harmful rays emitted by the signal towers? When the bunch of neighborhood children playing across the street slowly decreased the advertisements in our mobile phones drastically increased.
Are we merely drilling holes in the air or adding zeros to the voids?
