Hello alle, Schöne Grüße aus Indonesien. My name is Roselva Theresia Manalu – but I am more commonly known as Selva. I am 21 years old and I am still a 8th semester student of the Chemistry Education Study Program at the Universitas Negeri Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia. I come from Sumatera, Indonesia and here, I live with my parents and my cute little sister.

I am a representative of my church, HKBP (Huria Kristen Batak Protestant) or Batak Christian Protestant Church, and I was given the opportunity to volunteer as a kindergarten teacher. I enjoy reading, especially romance and mystery, and I’m working on improving my language skills, which are currently average. I hope that during this program, I will develop friendships with friends who live with me in Dortmud. I also want to grow in my faith in God with my friends there.

I am eager to go to Germany, particularly Dortmund, because I want to collaborate with people from different cultural backgrounds. I have no prior experience living away from my parents, but this opportunity allows me to discover who I am and what I can do to improve my social skills. Thanks to God and UEM, I was able to serve in Dortmund and live with people from various countries and cultures, allowing me to learn to live more independently.

I studied German for a month at Siantar and have a basic understanding, but I realize I still have a lot of gaps to fill because time is limited to learn more. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting to learn more German every day, and I’m hoping that living there will help me improve my skills. I’m looking forward to many new things there as well as good friends.

Thank you very much and Gottes Segen, alle!
