Zwischenseminar in Bad Schandau

Vor zwei Wochen war ich zum Zwischenseminar in Bad Schandau. Bad Schandau ist ein Ort im Landkreis Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge in Sachsen. Er liegt am rechten Elbufer, an der Mündung des Tals der Kirnitzsch und wird oft als Sächsische Schweiz bezeichnet. Hier war das Zentrum unseres Seminars. In Bad Schandau hatten wir jeden Tag viele Aktivitäten, zum Beispiel hatten wir schöne Gruppenwanderungen ins Ostrauer Gebirge, 9,10 Kilometer lang und 345m gerade hoch auf den Gipfel des Elbsandsteingebirges, was es mit Treppen und Leitern interessant machte. Neben den schönen Naturerlebnissen gab es auch viele interessante Bildungsinhalte, wie z.B. zum Thema Globale Gerechtigkeit und Klimawandel von Phillip aus Dresden, einem ehemaligen Freiwilligen des Berliner Missionswerkes in Italien. Auch über die Geschichte von Deutschland haben wir gesprochen, insbesondere die Zeit von August 1961 bis zum 9. November 1989 mit Sabine, Lusine und Phillip, und weiter diskutiert über das Thema Sexualität in Deutschland mit Lusine.
Zum Schluss besuchten wir die historische und schöne Hauptstadt der Tschechischen Republik: Prag. Prag ist eine wichtige historische Stadt voller historischer Statuen, Sehenswürdigkeiten, den schönen Segelschiffen, der aktuellen Botschaft des Bundesrepublik Deutschland, die als so viel wichtig in der Geschichte von 1961-1989 gilt. Das war ein erfolgreiches Seminar für mich.

Rückblick auf mein Freiwilligenjahr
Mein Name ist Isaac Muhayimana, ich komme aus Ruanda, bin 26 Jahre alt und habe mein Freiwilligenjahr hier in Deutschland absolviert, und zwar in meiner schönen Stadt Dortmund. Ich habe im Jugendhaus in Lütgendortmund (bei der Evangelischen Christus Gemeinde) gearbeitet und es ist mir ein Vergnügen, euch noch einmal von dieser unglaublichen Reise zu erzählen.
Ich kam am 02.April 2023 am Düsseldorfer Flughafen an, es war eine lange Reise von Ruanda nach Deutschland, unser Flug dauerte 19 Stunden. Ich war sehr müde, und ich hatte nicht erwartet, dass, nachdem ich durch die Passkontrolle am Flughafen Düsseldorf abgefertigt worden war und nach draußen kam, dort viele Menschen waren, um mich zu begrüßen, zum Beispiel Carolin, Jens, Julia, Lana und andere. Es hat mich berührt, wie viele Leute wegen mir am Flughafen waren, das gab mir die Aufgabe, zu versuchen, an meinem Arbeitsplatz es besonders gut zu machen. (mehr …)
Ein letzter Blog Artikel aus Freiwillige

Wenn es einen Anfang gibt, gibt es auch ein Ende. Aber mir war nicht klar, wie schnell die Zeit vergehen kann!
Dieses ganze Jahr war vollgepackt mit Erfahrungen, Lebenslektionen und Emotionen. Ich weiß noch, wie einsam und traurig ich am Anfang meines Freiwilligenjahres war, weil ich zum ersten Mal für längere Zeit von meiner Familie getrennt war. Damals habe ich mir wirklich Gedanken gemacht, wann ich endlich nach Hause gehen kann. Aber nach einiger Zeit kamen die anderen ins Haus und das Haus wurde voll und meine Einstellung änderte sich. Ich habe es wirklich geliebt, Teil dieser Freiwilligenfamilie zu sein, und in den letzten Tagen wollte ich gar nicht mehr zurück in mein Heimatland gehen. Die Menschen in deinem Umfeld, deine Erfahrungen und auch die Zeit – diese Faktoren können einen Menschen wirklich verändern.
In diesem einen Jahr habe ich eine Menge Erfahrungen und Erinnerungen gesammelt. Und vor allem habe ich begonnen, die Dinge aus einer anderen Perspektive zu betrachten. Ich kann sagen, dass ich reifer bin, als ich es Anfang 2023 war. Ich denke auch, dass Höhen und Tiefen, emotionale Situationen und auch die Freiheit uns beeinflusst und auch zu etwas Besserem geformt haben.

On a sunny day, a lot of people gathered in the city of Dortmund for a unique event: DORTBUNT. We volunteers together with others from the protestant church of Dortmund introduced the smoothie bike to the public. This innovative event aimed to promote sustainability and healthy living by utilizing leftover fruits to create delicious smoothies. (mehr …)
Intermediate seminar in Bad Schandau

Two weeks ago, I was in Bad Schandau for an intermediate seminar. Bad Schandau is a town in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge in Saxony. It is located on the right bank of the Elbe, at the mouth of the Kirnitzsch valley and is often referred to as Saxon Switzerland. This was the center of our seminar. In Bad Schandau we had many activities every day, for example we had nice group hikes into the Ostrava Mountains, 9.10 kilometers long and 345m straight up to the top of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, which made it interesting with stairs and ladders. In addition to the beautiful nature experiences, there was also a lot of interesting educational content, such as on the topic of global justice and climate change by Phillip from Dresden, a former volunteer of the Berlin Mission in Italy. We also talked about the history of Germany, especially the period from August 1961 to November 9, 1989 with Sabine, Lusine and Phillip, and further discussed the topic of sexuality in Germany with Lusine.
Finally, we visited the historic and beautiful capital of the Czech Republic: Prague. Prague is an important historical city full of historical statues, landmarks, the beautiful sailing ships, the current embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, which is considered so much important in the history of 1961-1989. It was a successful seminar for me.
A resplendet story

April 2023 was a month I will always remember. The journey began when I was about to travel to Germany to start my work as a South-North volunteer in one of the big German cities, Dortmund.
In the beginning, everything felt unfamiliar, difficult, maybe even anxious, and I didn’t know what I would be doing as a volunteer in Germany. But over time, all the things I was afraid of turned into beautiful and fun things. The way you guys treated me is more than enough to say that it was a great memory and a great lesson that could be said to have changed my social attitude.
Looking back on my year as a volunteer
My name is Isaac Muhayimana, I’m from Rwanda, I’m 26 years old and I did my volunteer year here in Germany, in my beautiful city of Dortmund. I worked at the youth center in Lütgendortmund (at the Evangelische Christus Gemeinde) and it is my pleasure to tell you again about this incredible journey.
I arrived at Düsseldorf airport on April 02, 2023, it was a long journey from Rwanda to Germany, our flight took 19 hours. I was very tired, and I didn’t expect that after I was cleared through passport control at Düsseldorf airport and came outside, there were many people there to greet me, for example Carolin, Jens, Julia, Lana and others. I was touched by how many people were at the airport because of me, which gave me the task of trying to do particularly well at my workplace. (mehr …)
Last text for the blog as a volunteer

If there is a beginning, there is also an end. But I didn’t realize how fast the time can fly!
This whole year was packed with experiences, life lessons and emotions. I still remember how lonely and sad I was in the beginning of my volunteer year because it was the first time I was away from my family for a long period. Those days I was really thinking when will I finally be able to go home. But after some time the others arrived in the house and the house became full and my mindset changed. I really loved being a part of this volunteer family and in the last days I remember I didn’t want to go back to my home in my country. People around you, your experiences, and also time these factors really can change a person.
This one year I collected a lot of experiences and memories. And most importantly I started looking at things in different perspectives. I can say that I am matured than I was in the beginning of 2023. Also I think ups and downs, emotional situations and also freedom these things affected and also shaped us into better. (mehr …)
