Gibt es heute noch Diktatoren?

Bevor ich nach Deutschland kam, hatte ich in Geschichte und Geographie vom Zweiten Weltkrieg gehört, aber ich wusste nicht genau, wie er begonnen hatte, was die Ursachen des Krieges waren und so weiter. Ich habe verstanden, dass die ganze Entfaltung des Krieges in Deutschland stattfand, und in Deutschland hatte ich die Möglichkeit, zum Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgeländer (über die Partei der NSDAP) nach Nürnberg zu gehen. Es war ein sehr beeindruckender Besuch. Einen Tag vor dem Besuch gab es eine Präsentation über Nürnberg und wie die Nachbarschaft um den Bahnhof zum Mittelpunkt der Aktivitäten des Diktators Adolf Hitler wurde.
Als wir im Dokumentationszentrum ankamen, bekamen wir alle eine Karte mit Informationen – auf der Karte waren beispielsweise alle Gebäude und Gelände nummeriert. ein Stadion für Meetings, (mehr …)
Erinnerungen an meine Kindheit in Kamerun

Seit April 2018 bin ich eine der glücklichen Mitbewohner*innen des Hauses und ich fühle mich dort echt wie zu Hause. Wir wohnen zurzeit zu viert dort zusammen (die liebe Gentille , die liebe Hannah, die liebe Nele und ich). Alle sind sehr freundlich und nett. Vorher habe ich im Studenten*innenwohnheim gewohnt und deswegen schätze ich es sehr, jetzt im Volunteershaus zu sein: dieser riesige Platz, der uns zur Verfügung steht! So haben wir die Möglichkeit, zusammen zu essen und das machen wir auch so oft wie möglich. Und wir genießen das wirklich! Diese Gelegenheiten, wenn wir zusammen kochen und essen, das schätze ich sehr, denn das erinnert mich an meine Kindheit in Kamerun, (mehr …)
Seminar für politische Bildung

Im Oktober 2018 bin ich nach Bad Staffelstein gefahren zu einem Bundesbildungszentrum. Dort sollte ich an einem Seminar zu politischer Bildung teilnehmen. Das Seminar ist ein Pflichtseminar von weltwärts in meinem Freiwilligendienst, das heißt, ich musste dort hinfahren.
Als ich erfahren habe, dass ich nach Bad Staffelstein in Bayern fahren sollte, habe ich gedacht, das Seminar ist bestimmt eine reine Präsentation der Politik in Deutschland. Ich konnte mir nicht vorstellen, dass wir dort auch diskutieren und Spaß haben werden. Auch wusste ich nicht, dass es dort so viele andere Freiwillige aus anderen Ländern und Kontinenten geben würde. Als ich in Bad Staffelstein ankam, war ich sehr überrascht, dass so viele Seminarteilnehmer*innen da waren: wir waren dort 26 junge Menschen aus Brasilien, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Kambodscha, DR Kongo, Ghana, Togo, Namibia, Kamerun, Uganda, Kenia, Indonesien. Are there Dictators in today’s world?

Before I came to Germany, I heard the history and geography of World War II, but I did not know exactly how it had started, what the course were, and so on. I understood that the whole idea and development of the war took place in Germany, and here I had the opportunity to go to the Documentation Center of the „Reichsparteitagsgelände“ (from the party NSDAP) in Nuremberg. It was a very impressive visit. One day before the visit there was a presentation about Nuremberg and how the neighborhood around the station became the center of activities of the dictator Adolf Hitler.
When we arrived at the Documentation Center, we all got a map with information – for example, all the buildings and grounds on the map were numbered. a stadium for meetings, a convention hall, a Zeppelin stand and much more. (mehr …)
Memories of my childhood in Cameroon

Since April 2018 I am one of the happy housemates in the volunteershouse and I feel really at home here. Oh yes, I really do! At the moment there are four of us living together (the lovely Gentille, the lovely Hannah, the lovely Nele and myself). Everyone is very friendly and nice. Before moving to the volunteershouse, I used to live in a student dorm in the city of Dortmund, and that’s why I really appreciate being in the volunteershouse now: this huge space that is at our disposal! We have the opportunity to eat together and we do that as often as possible. And we really enjoy that so much! Each time when we cook and eat together, it reminds me of my childhood in Cameroon, where we always ate together with the family. (mehr …)
Seminar on political education

In October 2018 I went to Bad Staffelstein to a federal education center (a so called „Bundesbildungszentrum“). I attended a seminar on political education. The seminar was a compulsory seminar from weltwärts in my voluntary service.
When I knew that I should go to Bad Staffelstein in Bavaria, I thought that the seminar would be a pure presentation of politics in Germany. I did not think that we would involve in discussions and have fun there. Also, I did not know that there would be so many other volunteers from other countries and continents. When I arrived in Bad Staffelstein, I was very surprised that there were so many seminar participants: we were 26 young people from Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Cambodia, DR Congo, Ghana, Togo, Namibia, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya and Indonesia. I wondered what the others were doing in Germany? I was very surprised that all were South-North volunteers in Germany and they came from all over the world. (mehr …)
